Some especially interesting examples are: software to enable London's city-wide CCTV system to be expanded considerably; software to enable Airbus to test new avionics systems, landing gear and fuel systems; an aluminium briefcase packed with miniature computers and state-of-the-art electronics, to enable rapid in-the-field testing, fault-diagnosis and engine-tuning / calibration (18-cylinder diesel) of stranded locomotives in North America; a remote control to wirelessly monitor / control a patient's implantable cardio defibrillator (ICD); adapting a home-computer to control an industrial machine; a feature-rich activity-box used by educational psychologists to help diagnose and stimulate interest in children with special needs; a gadget to let shop / hotel staff know when customers / guests enter, while ignoring those that are exiting; a bespoke computer for automated dispensing / security cabinets, used by Camp Pendleton, US government departments, law-enforcement, hospitals, commerce and industry; a computer controlled multiple-input, octo-phonic sound mixing console, all built into a briefcase; extremely-high-security burglar alarms and vehicle immobilizers; and home / building automation systems that provide integrated: security, energy / water saving, automated switching on/off of lights / appliances, mood lighting, and opening/closing of windows / curtains / blinds, etc, at set times, by remote control, or when triggered by whatever programmed to be triggered by.
