PRESENT PROJECTS – ABLE TO BECOME BACKGROUND TASKS WHILST WORKING ON YOUR COMPANY’S URGENT PROJECTS:
• For the past 29-years Garth has worked on many special projects in the UK and around the world, including China, and Silicon Valley, USA...
• Garth recently awoke with an idea for an amazing, combined - 'data compression' and 'especially secure data encryption' algorithm. Garth has subsequently checked the internet for any same or similar algorithms and patents, and has come to the conclusion that what he has conceived is unique. Garth has run some initial tests by developing some preliminary software, and the algorithm (Intellectual Property - IP) has a number of very special mathematical and code properties that would no doubt be patentable.
• Garth would be especially interested in diverting his attentions towards a new business to be based on the Isle of Man (due to providing much-needed employment opportunities to Manx workers in exchange for generous government grants), for the purposes of fully developing the entire algorithm in software, then porting the software to an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC), Application Specific Standard Product (ASSP), or custom parallel-computing silicon chip, for algorithm acceleration etc. This ASIC could then be mass-produced in the Isle of Man, and a number of sophisticated products developed to use the ASICs, which could be shipped worldwide. The ASIC itself would secure the IP, but worldwide patents could be applied for as optional additional protection.
• The ASICs and associated products, would no doubt be of great importance to: Banks, Financial Organizations, Data Centers, Broadcasters, Satellite Communications Users, Investors and Venture Capitalists, etc, as these products would facilitate, reduced data storage and reduced broadband transmission time and profound data protection. Products aimed at the computer-using public are also envisaged. A faster time-to-market is planned, by using the OpenCL C-based parallel programming language as opposed to low-level hardware description language (HDL/VHDL/Verilog).
• As Garth has the IP but not the funding, he is seeking help to facilitate investment of this IP in the Isle of Man, from Venture Capitalists, Investors, and anyone else that could potentially help towards the overall financial investment. Until this venture is fully funded, Garth is pleased to work on further short to long-term contracts worldwide, on either a part or full-time basis, either from his home office or at client sites.
INTRODUCTION:
• Garth originally became excited by, and involved with, Electronics at the age of 6, and Computing at the age of 11. Garth has so far accumulated 19+ years concurrent expertise in: Real-Time C/C++ for Embedded (with and without an RTOS or OS) & PC applications, Circuit Design, Schematic Capture, Bit Manipulation & Low Level & Device Drivers, DLL’s, Shared Memory, Serial Comms, Bespoke SCADA & Telematics & Remote Area Networks (RAN), Systems, Interfacing & Integration / Interoperability; throughout his mostly Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) based 29-year dedicated – Electronics, Computing, Control, and Communications, professional work history. These systems are providing imaginative solutions in many diverse industries, including: Telecommunications, Data Centres, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Transportation, Energy, Inventory Management, Medical, Manufacturing, Education, Electronics Systems for Domestic Housing, Security, Access-Control / Door Entry / Interlocking, CCTV, Environmental / Waterway / Highway Systems, City Infrastructure...
• Garth’s role would normally cover both: Controls (the electrical/electronic I/O devices and I/O cards and Comms cards, HMI, signal conditioning and interfaces) & Automation (the Industrial PC(s), CPU Card(s), Microsoft Windows Embedded 7 etc, IntervalZero RTX Real-Time OS (sits between Windows and the PC Hardware), bespoke C++ software and algorithms that monitor/control the 'Controls'). References to ‘Bespoke SCADA’ in this CV, relate to ‘Real-Time Control and/or Monitoring Applications/Systems’ which are effectively state-of-the-art advanced ultra-modern Control Systems with additional features (much much more than the old PLC solutions).
